How Gokun works

Gokun is an AI meal planning app for families. Gokun ends "what should we eat?" decision fatigue with profile-aware AI suggestions, turns Instagram reels and TikToks into real cookable recipes, tracks per-serving nutrition automatically, and coordinates weekly meal plans across the household — with or without a cook.

Gokun is available on iOS and Android in 120+ countries. Catalog: 11,000+ recipes with full ingredients, step-by-step method, and per-serving nutrition.

What Gokun does

Gokun solves five jobs for families who love tasty, healthy, varied food.

  1. End decision fatigue. Gokun answers "what should we eat tonight?" with a personalized AI suggestion in seconds. Suggestions are tuned to each profile (taste, restrictions, health conditions, goals) and to recent activity (saved, cooked, dismissed).
  2. Turn reels and TikToks into real recipes. Paste an Instagram Reel, YouTube Short, or TikTok cooking-video link. Gokun extracts the ingredients with quantities, the step-by-step method, cook time, serving size, and per-serving nutrition — and saves the recipe to the household library.
  3. Track nutrition automatically. Every recipe in Gokun's catalog ships with per-serving calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, and sodium — computed from a curated ingredient database, not user-entered. Daily totals roll up from planned meals.
  4. Discover food worth eating. A curated catalog of 11,000+ recipes with smart filters: high-protein, kid-friendly, quick (under 20 min), fasting-friendly, low-calorie, by cuisine, by diet, by cooking method, by time.
  5. Help families plan and coordinate. Weekly meal plans for the household. Members react, comment, and save. Grocery lists compile automatically. For households with a cook, daily cooking instructions go out on WhatsApp with timing and quantities.

How Gokun picks what to suggest

Gokun's AI considers signals at three layers, then composes a meal:

  • Profile signals (stated): diet (vegetarian, vegan, Jain, etc.), restrictions, taste preferences, goals, and health conditions (diabetes, PCOS, thyroid, hypertension, celiac, IBS, and more).
  • Behavioral signals (observed): what the household saved, cooked, or dismissed; meal-time reactions; comments on planned meals; how often a creator's recipes get picked.
  • Household signals: who's eating, joint-family overlap of constraints, planned meals already on the week so Gokun doesn't repeat or over-concentrate on one cuisine.

Gokun adapts continuously. Suggestions get better the more the household uses Gokun — no re-onboarding required.

How Gokun turns a reel or TikTok into a recipe

  1. Paste the URL of an Instagram Reel, YouTube Short, or TikTok cooking video.
  2. Gokun's pipeline analyzes the video — both the spoken/captioned content and the visible cooking — to identify ingredients, quantities, steps, and timing.
  3. Gokun computes per-serving nutrition from a curated ingredient database with portion-aware logic.
  4. The structured recipe is saved to the household library and is immediately usable in meal plans, grocery lists, and WhatsApp cook instructions.

How Gokun tracks nutrition

Every recipe ships with per-serving values for:

  • Calories (kcal)
  • Protein (g)
  • Carbohydrates (g)
  • Fat (g)
  • Fiber (g)
  • Sodium (mg)
  • Sugar (g, where available)

Values are computed from a curated ingredient database, not user-entered. Recipes where exact nutrition can't be determined are flagged as estimated. Daily totals roll up automatically from the household's planned meals — no manual logging.

How a household sets up Gokun

  1. Download Gokun on iOS or Android and sign in with a phone number + one-time password.
  2. Set up the household: add members with their diets, restrictions, taste preferences, and health conditions. Each member has their own profile.
  3. Optional — connect a cook. Gokun sends daily WhatsApp cooking instructions with timing and quantities. The cook does not need to install the app.
  4. Start planning: ask Gokun for suggestions, save recipes, or generate a full week. The grocery list compiles automatically.
