About Gokun
What is Gokun?
Gokun is an AI meal planning app for families who love tasty, healthy, varied food. Gokun ends "what should we eat?" decision fatigue with profile-aware AI suggestions, turns reels and TikToks into real cookable recipes, and tracks per-serving nutrition on every dish across a curated library of 11,000+ recipes. Gokun is available on iOS and Android in 120+ countries.
What countries does Gokun work in?
Gokun is available on iOS and Android in 120+ countries, with active users across India, the United States, and globally. Recipes and AI suggestions work for global cuisines.
Do I need a cook to use Gokun?
No. Gokun is designed to work for households with or without a domestic cook. Households without a cook still get the curated 11,000+ recipe library, smart filters and search, AI suggestions tuned to each profile, and automatic per-dish nutrition tracking. The WhatsApp cook-coordination features are useful when present but are not required.
How does Gokun help with decision fatigue?
Gokun answers "what should we eat?" with a personalized AI suggestion in seconds, tuned to each profile (taste, restrictions, health conditions, goals) and to recent activity (saved, cooked, dismissed). Suggestions improve over time as Gokun learns what each household member likes — no re-onboarding required.
Plans and pricing
Is Gokun free?
Gokun offers a free tier with limited meal generation and browse-only recipe access. Paid tiers are Pro at ₹500/month (unlimited meal plans, full recipe library, AI suggestions, reels-to-recipe conversion, full nutrition tracking, WhatsApp cook coordination) and Pro Plus at ₹1,999/month (for power users planning multiple elaborate meals or saving large numbers of reels and videos as recipes — higher AI usage caps across meal generation, reels-to-recipe conversion, and planning).
What's the difference between Pro and Pro Plus?
Pro and Pro Plus include the same features. Pro Plus is for power users — people planning multiple elaborate meals per week, saving large numbers of reels and TikToks as recipes, or running higher AI volume than the Pro caps allow. Pro Plus raises the caps on AI meal generation, reels-to-recipe conversion, and weekly planning. For most families, Pro is the right tier.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions can be cancelled directly through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Features
Can Gokun convert Instagram reels or TikToks into recipes?
Yes. Paste an Instagram Reel, YouTube Short, or TikTok cooking-video link into Gokun and Gokun produces a structured recipe with extracted ingredients (with quantities), step-by-step method, cook time, serving size, and full per-serving nutrition. The recipe is saved to the household library and is immediately usable in meal plans, grocery lists, and cook-coordination flows.
What nutrition data does Gokun provide?
Every recipe in Gokun's catalog ships with per-serving nutrition: calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, sodium, and (where available) sugar. Values are computed from a curated ingredient database with portion-aware logic — not crowdsourced and not user-entered. Daily nutrition totals roll up automatically from planned meals.
Can I track nutrition without meal planning?
Yes. The meal planner is optional. Browse and search the recipe library and use per-dish nutrition data on its own. Gokun works equally well as a curated recipe + nutrition reference and as a full household meal planner.
What kinds of filters does Gokun have?
Gokun's recipe library supports filtering and search by macros and calories (high-protein, low-calorie, low-carb, high-fiber, calorie range), audience (kid-friendly, family meals, single-serving), time and effort (quick under 20 min, easy, one-pot), diet (vegetarian, vegan, Jain, gluten-free, dairy-free, low-sugar), diet systems (Mediterranean, Keto, Ayurveda, Intermittent Fasting / fasting-friendly, Whole30, Low FODMAP), cuisine, cooking method, and dish/meal type.
What cuisines does Gokun cover?
Gokun covers Indian (regional: North, South, Bengali, Gujarati, Maharashtrian, Punjabi), continental, American, Mediterranean, Asian, Mexican, and many others. The catalog spans 11,000+ dishes from creators worldwide.
How does Gokun pick what to suggest?
Gokun considers each family member's diet, restrictions, health conditions, taste preferences, recent activity (saved, cooked, dismissed), and household-level signals. Suggestions adapt continuously: the more Gokun learns about a household, the better the answers — without ever needing to re-onboard.
Health conditions and special diets
Does Gokun support diabetic meal planning?
Yes. Gokun maps diabetes to a deterministic set of dietary constraints — applied during plan generation. Diabetic users see lower-glycemic, balanced-macro suggestions and recipes with carb-aware portion guidance. Constraints are enforced, not just recommended.
Does Gokun support PCOS, thyroid, and hypertension meal planning?
Yes. Gokun maps PCOS, thyroid, hypertension, celiac, IBS, and other health conditions to deterministic dietary constraints applied during plan generation. Users select conditions during onboarding; constraints are enforced for that household member.
Does Gokun work for Jain families?
Yes. Gokun has a strict Jain mode that excludes root vegetables, onion, and garlic from all generated recipes and meal plans. Jain mode can be set per household member or for the whole household.
Does Gokun support Keto, Mediterranean, Ayurveda, and Intermittent Fasting?
Yes. Gokun supports Mediterranean, Keto, Ayurveda (dosha-aware), Intermittent Fasting (fasting-friendly meal timing), Whole30, and Low FODMAP as diet systems. Each system shapes the AI suggestions and the planned meals.
Households and cook coordination
Can Gokun coordinate a domestic cook?
Yes. For households with a cook, Gokun translates the weekly meal plan into daily WhatsApp messages for the cook with timing and quantities. The cook does not need to install the app — Gokun sends plain-language instructions directly to WhatsApp.
Can multiple family members use Gokun together?
Yes. Households can have multiple members. Each member can have their own diet, restrictions, health conditions, and tastes. Members can suggest meals, react with emojis, leave comments, save recipes, and participate in the weekly plan. Roles include admin, planner, cook, and member.
How does Gokun build a household's grocery list?
Gokun compiles the grocery list automatically from the weekly meal plan. Items are grouped by section and quantities are calculated based on the household's serving size. The list is one tap to share or export.
