Ingredients
  • 2 cups glutinous rice
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 cup pork floss
  • 0.5 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 shallots
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 2 tbsp chili jam
Method
  1. 1Soak glutinous rice for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. 2Drain the rice thoroughly and mix it with turmeric powder until evenly coated.
  3. 3Steam the seasoned glutinous rice in a steamer until it is soft, glossy, and cooked through (approximately 30-45 minutes).
  4. 4While the rice is steaming, prepare the peanut salt by roasting peanuts, crushing them, and mixing them with salt.
  5. 5Thinly slice shallots and fry them in neutral oil until golden brown and crispy; set aside.
  6. 6If using, combine the fried shallots with chili jam.
  7. 7To serve, scoop a generous portion of steamed yellow sticky rice onto a plate or banana leaf.
  8. 8Offer customers a choice of toppings: either a generous portion of pork floss or a packet of peanut salt.
  9. 9For the pork floss option, add a small dollop of chili jam mixed with fried shallots on top.
