Ingredients
  • 3 pieces beef steak (e.g., strip steak)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 lb baby potatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped red tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
Method
  1. 1Prepare Thai marinade by combining soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, white pepper, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, and cooking oil.
  2. 2Marinate the beef steaks for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
  3. 3Preheat grill to medium-high heat and clean grill grates.
  4. 4Place marinated steaks on the grill, orienting them diagonally towards the 2 o'clock position to create the first set of grill marks.
  5. 5Once distinct grill marks form, rotate each steak in place to the 10 o'clock position to form a crosshatch pattern.
  6. 6Flip steaks to cook the second side, repeating the 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock rotation sequence for crosshatch marks.
  7. 7Grill steaks to your desired doneness, then remove from grill and let rest for a few minutes.
  8. 8Meanwhile, roast baby potatoes until golden brown and tender.
  9. 9Prepare Nam Jim Jeaw dipping sauce by combining fish sauce, lime juice, chili flakes, and chopped tomatoes.
  10. 10Slice the grilled steak and serve immediately with roasted potatoes and the Nam Jim Jeaw dipping sauce.
