Ingredients
  • 1 quail
  • 1 butternut squash
  • 2-3 dried jujubes
  • 50g lotus seeds
  • 5g goji berries
  • 1/2 tsp peppercorns
  • 1 tsp stock powder
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt
  • Green onions
Method
  1. 1Rub quail with salt and rinse thoroughly.
  2. 2Cut butternut squash in half and scoop out seeds and inner flesh to create a cavity.
  3. 3Make a small slice at the bottom of the squash for stability.
  4. 4Place cleaned quail inside the hollowed squash.
  5. 5Add lotus seeds, sliced dried jujubes, goji berries, peppercorns, stock powder, and sesame oil to the squash.
  6. 6Cover the squash opening tightly (e.g., with foil or alum paper).
  7. 7Steam the squash and quail until cooked through.
  8. 8Garnish with freshly chopped green onions before serving.
