  • 1.5 to 2 cups whole green moong dal
  • 3 tablespoons powdered jaggery
  • Water
  • A pinch of salt
  • Ice cubes
Method
  1. 1Dry roast the whole green moong dal in a stainless steel pan for about five minutes until it changes to a darker, brownish hue.
  2. 2Transfer the roasted moong dal into a ceramic bowl to cool down completely.
  3. 3Pour the cooled roasted moong dal into a blender jar and grind it into a light brown, coarse powder.
  4. 4Add about three spoonfuls of powdered jaggery to the ground moong dal powder in the blender jar.
  5. 5Pour water into the jar, filling it about three-quarters of the way up.
  6. 6Blend the mixture again until it becomes a smooth, brown liquid, which may retain a slightly grainy texture.
  7. 7Fill a tall, clear glass with ice cubes.
  8. 8Pour the blended moong dal and jaggery mixture directly over the ice.
  9. 9Stir the drink with a metal straw.
  10. 10Sprinkle a small pinch of salt on top of the drink before serving.
