- 1.5-2 cups raw peanuts
- Water for boiling
- 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/2 cup finely chopped red tomato
- 1-2 tablespoons finely chopped green chilies
- 1 teaspoon chaat masala powder
- 1/2 - 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon pink salt
- A generous handful freshly chopped coriander leaves
- One large green leaf (betel leaf)
Method
- 1Place a clear glass pot containing water on a gas stove.
- 2Bring the water to a boil.
- 3Add raw peanuts to the boiling water.
- 4Boil the peanuts for approximately 10 minutes until they are soft and slightly plumped.
- 5Drain the boiled peanuts from the hot water using a metal slotted spoon.
- 6Transfer the drained peanuts into a large, decorative wooden mixing bowl.
- 7Add the finely chopped red onion, diced red tomato, and chopped green chilies to the boiled peanuts.
- 8Season the fresh ingredients with chaat masala powder, red chili powder, and pink salt.
- 9Sprinkle a generous amount of freshly chopped coriander leaves over the mixture.
- 10Thoroughly mix all the ingredients in the bowl together using a spoon until they are well combined.
- 11Scoop a portion of the colorful chaat onto a broad, vivid green leaf for presentation.
