  • 1.5-2 cups raw peanuts
  • Water for boiling
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red tomato
  • 1-2 tablespoons finely chopped green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala powder
  • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pink salt
  • A generous handful freshly chopped coriander leaves
  • One large green leaf (betel leaf)
Method
  1. 1Place a clear glass pot containing water on a gas stove.
  2. 2Bring the water to a boil.
  3. 3Add raw peanuts to the boiling water.
  4. 4Boil the peanuts for approximately 10 minutes until they are soft and slightly plumped.
  5. 5Drain the boiled peanuts from the hot water using a metal slotted spoon.
  6. 6Transfer the drained peanuts into a large, decorative wooden mixing bowl.
  7. 7Add the finely chopped red onion, diced red tomato, and chopped green chilies to the boiled peanuts.
  8. 8Season the fresh ingredients with chaat masala powder, red chili powder, and pink salt.
  9. 9Sprinkle a generous amount of freshly chopped coriander leaves over the mixture.
  10. 10Thoroughly mix all the ingredients in the bowl together using a spoon until they are well combined.
  11. 11Scoop a portion of the colorful chaat onto a broad, vivid green leaf for presentation.
