Method
  1. 1Turn on Instant Pot to 'Sauté' mode and allow it to heat up.
  2. 2Add oil to the hot pot.
  3. 3Introduce Cumin seeds and sauté until they crackle and lightly brown.
  4. 4Add Turmeric powder and stir into the oil.
  5. 5Add Asafoetida and mix well.
  6. 6Toss in Curry leaves and let them splutter.
  7. 7Add smashed garlic cloves, minced ginger, and slit green chilies, then briefly sauté to release aromas.
  8. 8Transfer the washed and drained Toor Dal into the Instant Pot.
  9. 9Pour in 3 cups of fresh water.
  10. 10Add salt and sprinkle in Fenugreek seeds.
  11. 11Add the finely chopped onion and chopped tomato.
  12. 12Stir all contents to combine, then close and seal the Instant Pot lid.
  13. 13Cancel 'Sauté' mode and set the Instant Pot to 'Pressure Cook' (specific duration not provided in source).
