Ingredients
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup white granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon dark, brewed filter coffee or coffee concentrate
- 1.5 cups water
- 1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate
- Ice cubes
- Cold milk
Method
- 1Place an empty stainless steel pan on a wooden cutting board, then add granulated sugar, the first portion of cocoa powder, and one tablespoon of brewed coffee.
- 2Add more cocoa powder, then pour about 1 cup of water over the ingredients.
- 3Whisk the mixture thoroughly to combine all ingredients and ensure there are no lumps.
- 4Add another 1/2 cup of water and continue whisking until the mixture is smooth.
- 5Place the pan on a heat source and add chopped dark chocolate to the mixture.
- 6Stir and cook the mixture until it comes to a boil and the chocolate has completely melted, creating a smooth, medium-thick, dark brown syrup.
- 7Transfer the hot mocha base to a clear measuring jug and allow it to cool down.
- 8Once cooled, store the mocha base in a bottle or container in the fridge for future use.
- 9To serve, fill a glass with ice cubes.
- 10Pour a portion of the pre-made mocha base over the ice, filling about one-third of the glass.
- 11Pour cold milk into the glass, filling it to the top.
- 12Stir the drink well with a metal straw to combine the layers and enjoy.
