Ingredients
- 2 slices whole wheat bread
- Small amount butter or ghee
- Approximately ½ cup boiled soya chunks
- Approximately ½ cup boiled black chickpeas
- Small quantity chopped ginger
- Small quantity chopped green chilies
- Pinch pink salt
- About ½ teaspoon red chili powder
- About ½ teaspoon cumin powder
- About ½ teaspoon chaat masala
- About ¼ cup plain yogurt
- Approximately ½ cup chickpea flour (besan)
- Fresh green lettuce leaves
- Thinly sliced white cheese
- Thinly sliced red tomatoes
- Thinly sliced red onions
- Small amount cooking oil
Method
- 1Melt butter or ghee in a non-stick pan and toast two slices of whole wheat bread until golden brown on both sides.
- 2Combine boiled soya chunks, boiled black chickpeas, chopped ginger, chopped green chilies, pink salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, chaat masala, and plain yogurt in a blender.
- 3Blend the ingredients until a thick, coarse paste is formed.
- 4Transfer the blended mixture to a mixing bowl and add chickpea flour (besan).
- 5Mix and knead the ingredients thoroughly until a cohesive, dough-like consistency suitable for shaping patties is achieved.
- 6Heat cooking oil in the pan and place a square metal mold in the center.
- 7Press a generous portion of the protein mixture into the mold to form a square patty, and cook until golden brown on the first side.
- 8Flip the patty and cook until golden brown and crispy on the second side.
- 9On a toasted bread slice, layer a fresh lettuce leaf, the cooked protein patty, sliced red tomatoes, and sliced red onions.
- 10Add a slice of white cheese and top with another toasted bread slice.
- 11Cut the assembled sandwich diagonally into two triangles and serve.
