Ingredients
- 1 cup milk powder
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup cream
- 2 cups water
- 1.75 cups granulated sugar
- Oil for deep frying
Method
- 1Combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, cardamom powder, and baking soda in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
- 2Add cream to the dry mixture and stir vigorously to form a soft, sticky dough.
- 3Cover the dough and let it rest for about ten minutes.
- 4While the dough rests, combine water and granulated sugar in a pan and heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and the syrup boils.
- 5Knead the rested dough briefly and then divide it into sixteen equal small portions.
- 6Roll each portion between your palms into smooth, perfectly round balls, ensuring there are no cracks.
- 7Heat oil in a non-stick pan on the stovetop for deep frying.
- 8Carefully drop the raw Gulab Jamun balls into the hot oil, taking care not to overcrowd the pan.
- 9Deep-fry the balls on low heat, gently stirring with a slotted spoon to achieve even browning until they are deep golden brown.
- 10Remove the perfectly fried Gulab Jamuns from the oil using the slotted spoon.
- 11Immediately transfer the hot, freshly fried Gulab Jamuns into the warm sugar syrup and let them soak.
