Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 2 cups water
  • 1.75 cups granulated sugar
  • Oil for deep frying
Method
  1. 1Combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, cardamom powder, and baking soda in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
  2. 2Add cream to the dry mixture and stir vigorously to form a soft, sticky dough.
  3. 3Cover the dough and let it rest for about ten minutes.
  4. 4While the dough rests, combine water and granulated sugar in a pan and heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and the syrup boils.
  5. 5Knead the rested dough briefly and then divide it into sixteen equal small portions.
  6. 6Roll each portion between your palms into smooth, perfectly round balls, ensuring there are no cracks.
  7. 7Heat oil in a non-stick pan on the stovetop for deep frying.
  8. 8Carefully drop the raw Gulab Jamun balls into the hot oil, taking care not to overcrowd the pan.
  9. 9Deep-fry the balls on low heat, gently stirring with a slotted spoon to achieve even browning until they are deep golden brown.
  10. 10Remove the perfectly fried Gulab Jamuns from the oil using the slotted spoon.
  11. 11Immediately transfer the hot, freshly fried Gulab Jamuns into the warm sugar syrup and let them soak.
