  • 2-3 medium-sized fresh red tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • A small pinch sea salt
  • A small pinch white pepper
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon chilli flakes
  • A handful fresh Italian basil
Method
  1. 1Place raw, fresh red tomatoes on a round wooden cutting board.
  2. 2Halve the tomatoes lengthwise and carefully remove the tough, white core from each half using a knife.
  3. 3Slice the cored tomato halves into wedges, yielding roughly 6-8 wedges per tomato.
  4. 4Transfer the sliced tomato wedges into a clear glass mixing bowl.
  5. 5Drizzle olive oil over the tomatoes, followed by apple cider vinegar.
  6. 6Sprinkle sea salt and white pepper generously over the tomatoes.
  7. 7Add chilli flakes next to introduce a spicy note.
  8. 8Scatter freshly chopped or torn basil leaves over the tomatoes.
  9. 9Gently toss the ingredients in the bowl by hand to ensure everything is well combined and coated with the dressing.
  10. 10Transfer the mixed tomato salad to a white ceramic serving bowl.
  11. 11Chill the salad in the refrigerator before serving to enhance its refreshing quality.
