  • 1 teaspoon chopped ginger
  • 1 teaspoon chopped green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon salt (for dal)
  • 0.5 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 cups water (for dal)
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon mango powder
  • Tamarind chutney
  • Chopped cucumber
Method
  1. 1Combine all-purpose flour, suji, oil, salt, and cumin seeds; mix well.
  2. 2Gradually add water and knead into a firm dough.
  3. 3In a pressure cooker, heat oil, add cumin seeds, chana dal, ginger, green chilies, salt, turmeric, and water.
  4. 4Pressure cook the dal for about 8 minutes.
  5. 5Once cooked, add black pepper, garam masala, and mango powder to the dal; mix well.
  6. 6Knead the pakwan dough again and divide into small portions.
  7. 7Roll each portion thinly into a 5-inch circle.
  8. 8Prick holes on both sides of the rolled dough using a fork.
  9. 9Cut the rolled dough into triangular pieces.
  10. 10Deep fry the pakwan pieces in hot oil until crispy and golden.
  11. 11Assemble by topping pakwan pieces with dal, tamarind chutney, and chopped cucumber.
