Ingredients
- 6-8 slices white bread
- 1/2 cup crushed walnuts
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup white granulated sugar
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup white milk
- 1/2 teaspoon white cardamom powder
- 2-3 tablespoons pale yellow butter
Method
- 1Cut white bread slices into small pieces.
- 2Process bread pieces into fine bread crumbs using a food processor.
- 3Lightly crush walnuts using the food processor.
- 4Add bread crumbs to a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- 5Sprinkle white granulated sugar over bread crumbs and continuously stir until caramelized and light brown (about 3 minutes).
- 6Pour milk into the pan and stir vigorously until the mixture thickens into a soft dough.
- 7Add cardamom powder and butter, stirring until butter melts and is incorporated.
- 8Add crushed walnuts and mix thoroughly.
- 9Transfer the warm burfi mixture onto a clean square plate.
- 10Spread and press the mixture evenly into a flat, square shape using a spatula.
- 11Slice the large square into smaller, uniform square pieces (approximately 16 individual burfis).
